EDO STATE TECH PARK

The objective is to create a vibrant and inclusive work environment that meets the expectations of today’s IT graduate candidate / employee, and the employers that seek to attract the best talents.

An integration of personal and professional life in a conducive environment with a series of outdoor areas – smaller areas servicing a cluster of buildings, and larger, delivering functions for the entire community. Spaces for community interaction includes the gymnasium, cafeteria, shopping areas , sporting facilities and others.

Smaller outdoor spaces offer informal meeting and greeting areas, as well as shaded seating for groups or individuals.

The modern workforce is increasingly mobile. You can work on a project from anywhere in the world. The Tech Park design should be a balance of live, work and play. More tech equals more flexibility and more connectivity, minimizing the need to travel.

EDO STATE TECH PARK

SPATIAL REQUIREMENTS

The Tech Park has  3 core areas

  1. RESIDENTIAL – This should be at least 45% of the entire space. Mixed housing for private residences sectioned into low, medium and high density.
  2. CORE TECH PARK – This is the central work area and will have facilities like:

Data Centre (This is multi-storey with the Data centre in the middle and the other floors serving as office spaces that can be rented out to companies looking to move their operations into the park)

    Auditorium
(the NCC is looking to build a tech centre in Benin and the govt is open to having it domiciled in the tech park so we can have an agreement to operate the facility and maybe share revenue)
    Shopping complex
     – This doesn’t have to be situated inside the core tech park, it can be central to all the facilities so it is easily accessible to both the residential, training facility and other individuals in the core tech park. To increase viability, we should consider situating this complex in a way that non-park residents can access it without necessarily coming into the park. It exposes the businesses to a larger market increasing the viability of the complex while ensuring we don’t bring in disruptive footfall into the space.
    Green area
with outdoor furniture that are weather resistant  for outdoor work and relaxation.

3. TRAINING FACILITY – This section would serve as a full blown campus housing various tech training institutions and programs.

The area will house Decagon’s current operations which includes –

Hostels for trainees. These hostels are shared rooms housing a maximum of 4 students per room (2 bunks per room) for the 6 months software development training program.
Live work apartments – These are for Engineers retained by Decagon upon completion of the training program to work on the remote services team which provides talent to Decagon’s international clients.
Administrative block with lecture halls and mini-auditorium, gaming lounge and cafeteria.

ADD-ON FACILITIES

Utilities: Power stations, water treatment, solar farms, housing for facility managers, etc can be grouped together.
Recreational facilities: Mini football pitch, court games, gyms across the 3 core sections, and a members only clubhouse.

We can extend registration to strategic anchor talents & academics in the learning institutions bothering the tech park
